Whether you’re dodging the last of the April showers or soaking up that first bit of real sunshine, spring is the official “transition season” for our needles. We’re moving away from the chunky wool armors of winter and into the airy, breathable fibers.
I’ve curated a list of five must-knit patterns for Spring 2026. From my own textured favorites to some of the season’s biggest hits, these will keep your hands busy and your wardrobe fresh.

1.The Honey Comb Knit Scarf by Spruce Hill Knits

I might be biased, but there is nothing quite like the texture of a honeycomb stitch to mimic the energy of spring. This scarf is designed to be the perfect in-between accessory that’s light enough to wear with a denim jacket but cozy enough for a breezy morning walk. I recommend knitting this in a fun color for a more spring vibe.
2. Promises in the Dark Shawl, by Cheryl Faust

If you haven’t tried mosaic knitting yet, let this be your sign. Cheryl Faust is a master of geometric texture, and Promises in the Dark is a masterpiece. Using the mosaic technique means you’re only ever working with one color per row, but the result looks impressively complex. It’s a triangular shawl that is the perfect layering piece for spring. I knit mine in fall-toned colors, but you could easily adjust the color palette for the spring season by choosing pastels or bright colors. It’s the perfect spring layering piece.
3. Summer Secret Crop by Jessie Maed Designs

Admittedly, this is a summer pattern (hence the name), but I think it is perfect to start in the spring to have ready for the summer season. It’s incredibly easy to modify based on your preferences. I added stripes and crossed the straps in the back to spruce up the design.
Warmer weather doesn’t have to mean putting your needles away. Happy spring knitting!
