Something about this scarf reminds me of an old bookstore on a chilly fall morning. It’s a classic pattern that will be treasured for years to come. Cozy up with your favorite read and grab your needles to knit The Bookstore Scarf!
If you want to complete the look, you can also knit the matching Bookstore Headband. These two projects together use three skeins of Kelbourne Woolens Germantown yarn.

Materials:
- Yarn: 520 yards of worsted weight yarn. In this pattern, I used Germantown by Kelbourne Woolens. The color pictured in this pattern is Olive, and is one of my favorites. You will need at least 3 skeins to complete the pattern as written. Bonus: you can use the leftover yarn from this pattern to knit The Bookstore Headband.
- Knitting needles: US size 8 (5.0 mm)
- Cable needle (optional)
- Craft needle (optional, to weave in ends)
Finished Size:
After blocking, your piece should measure 103 inches long and 8 inches wide.
This pattern is really flexible. If you would like your scarf to be longer or shorter than the pattern calls for, then you can stop knitting early or knit a little extra until the desired length is reached.
Gauge is 16×20 stitches in stockinette stitch = 4 inches x 4 inches.
