Top Five Free Knitting Patterns
If you have been stuck in quarantine from COVID-19 like me, you have likely scoured the internet for new knitting ideas and patterns. The temptation for online shopping has never been harder to resist!
Give your wallet a break with this roundup of my top five favorite free knitting patterns.
Simple Knit Sweater: Sewrella
This is the first sweater I ever made! This pattern is easy to follow and also includes a step-by-step video tutorial. This would be a great project for a beginner who is looking to expand their skill set beyond a basic knit scarf.
Headband in English Rib with a Twist: Mirella Moments

I made this knit headband/ear warmer as a Christmas gift last year, and plan to make one for myself. It turned out so well I almost kept it. This is a quick and easy pattern. The twist in the middle of the headband adds just the right amount of detail to what is an otherwise simple English Rib stitch headband.
Easy Knitted Garter Top-Down Shawl: Fiber Spider

The tutorial for this shawl is available for free on YouTube. I haven’t been able to find a written version of the pattern, but the video tutorial is quite helpful. I made this shawl and added stripes to it using Super Trouper Wool from Wool and the Gang in four different colors. You can find more information here if you would like to replicate the specific look of the shawl pictured above.
The World’s Simplest Mittens

The best part of this pattern is that is includes multiple mitten sizes. Get started on mittens for the whole family!
Knit Bunny

How cute is this pattern for a knit bunny stuffed animal? This is one of my favorite tutorials because it is actually just a knit square. That’s it! If you can knit a garter stitch square, you can knit this bunny.
